Chip Kelly turns down NFL, stays with the Ducks

Head Coach – Oregon

On Sunday Kelly has reportedly turned down all NFL openings to return to Oregon.

Bruce Feldman of CBSSports.com and CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora both confirm that Kelly will stick with Oregon. Adam Schefter of ESPN first reported that Kelly considered taking the Eagles gig but ultimately decided to stay with Oregon.

The Eagles and the Browns were the teams who were seen as most likely to grab Kelly, but the Browns took themselves out of the running for Kelly on Sunday after a Saturday meeting never materialized.

It’s believed that Kelly wanted substantial control over personnel on his roster; he clearly wasn’t getting that in Philadelphia, where a power structure already exists.

And the lure of running a successful college program — along with the dollars that come from Oregon booster and Nike founder Phil Knight — ultimately resulted in Kelly not going anywhere.

Maybe he was able to see the Tweets I put out there early Sunday morning.

Always like to help out when I can.  ;c)
