After the Baltimore Ravens beat the New England Patriots 28-13 in Gillette Stadium, It looks like there were a couple of people were emotional after the game. You had Terrell Suggs going off on the Patriots and their head coach (he has apologized) and now we have a person outside of the playing field throwing “verbal blows” specifically at Ray Lewis.
Wes Welker’s wife, Anna Burns Welker, took to Facebook to support her husband — and take a few shots at the Ravens linebacker, who will retire after the Super Bowl.
Proud of my husband and the Pats. By the way, if anyone is bored, please go to Ray Lewis’ Wikipedia page. 6 kids 4 wives. Acquitted for murder. Paid a family off. Yay. What a hall of fame player! A true role model!
Burns Welker apologize for her momentary lapse in judgment. “I’m deeply sorry for my recent post on Facebook,” she said in a statement sent to Larry Brown Sports. “I let the competitiveness of the game and the comments people were making about a team I dearly love get the best of me. My actions were emotional and irrational and I sincerely apologize to Ray Lewis and anyone affected by my comment after yesterday’s game,” she continued. “It is such an accomplishment for any team to make it to the NFL playoffs, and the momentary frustration I felt should not overshadow the accomplishments of both of these amazing teams.”
You know Patriots owner Robert Kraft is not about poor sportsmanship and will not tolerate it coming from his team (or wives of players from his team); you know Kraft had something to do with this quick apology made by Anna. I won’t be shocked if we see Wes Welker in another uniform, this act might push him out the door…whether the Patriots want to or not. Stay tuned.
