Colin Kaepernick making enemies with Niners’ fans

49ers logo - wordThere’s some San Francisco 49ers fans who are a little upset with their starting QB for the gear he was wearing over the holiday.

On the Fourth of July, Colin Kaepernick went to a party wearing a Miami Dolphin hat. A fan account on Twitter was able to get a photograph of the player:

Many fans (not just 49ers fans) saw it as a sign of disrespect to the team that he plays for and cut him a check, but Kaepernick feels differently. After the news came out, he posted this picture of himself with the hat.

The picture was posted on Instagram (Kaepernick7) and in the captions he wrote this message:

This the hat y’all mad at? I’m goin wear what I want regardless of what you think, all you need to worry about is the fact that I grind for my teammates and the 49ers! I plan on doin this until they won’t let me in the building! #ridiculous#y’allmustbebored

I like his attitude on the situation and his response, but I do see how it would rub people the wrong way; I have no problem with him wearing apparel from other sports like MLB or NBA, but it is hard to justify you wearing something from another team in your league.  That’s like a Pepsi employee wearing Coca-Cola gear or a Kyle Busch (#18) crew member rocking the Jimmie Johnson #48.  It just isn’t going to fly and you more than likely find yourself on the outside looking for another job.

I guess until someone in the 49ers front office says something to Kaepernick, he’s alright to do basically what he wants and as long as he succeeds on the field, there will be no problems.  For a young man who has turned into a sports star quickly, he has done well coping with the  criticism on and off the field. There’s a few veteran athletes who need to take notes from Colin.
